Is This Socially Acceptable?

Coffee Shop: Newport Starbucks @ PCH & Riverside

noshoesI honestly don’t know if this is an okay thing for someone to do? I mean, the guy in the background is technically wearing even less footwear (open toed sandals) but feet out of shoes for any appreciable amount of time just seems odd at a place that is technically considered an eatery. And while I hate to play the double-standard card, this is especially true in my book for a male (which, though it may not be clear in the photo, this person was).

It’s one of those strange society rules. That would weird me out, too. But open-toed sandals, whatever. Hell, if he came in barefoot, it would weird me out for maybe the first 2 minutes, and then I’d forget about it, whereas the shoes off thing would just constantly bug me.

I agree… if you’re already wearing shoes that show your feet you’re in the clear… but this is completely unacceptable… It really really grosses me out on the plane when I see someone head back to the lav in socks. EW. And I assume I would be equally grossed out in a coffee shop.

I’m glad to see I’m not alone on this one.
